Around 85 athletes, including 100m national record holder Dutee Chand, will be seen in action during the Indian Grand Prix I meet, the first track and field senior competition of the season, in Patiala on Thursday.

Some top athletes like Hima Das are not taking part in the first multi-event athletics competition after the entire calendar was wiped out in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will also be missing in action as his event is not included in this competition.

The three Grands Prix meets at the same venue — the other two to be held on February 25 and March 5 — are warm-up events for the Federation Cup, slated in Patiala from March 15.
