Hikaru Nakamura came back from losing the second set to clinch the third, regaining a lead thanks to a strong show in the blitz tiebreaks in Set 3. The final stands poised 2-1 in Nakamura’s favour. Carlsen won the second set but could not carry the momentum forward into the subsequent round.
